writing uses graphic signs called acentos (accent
marks) which sometimes may appear in their English spelling.
Moreover, a diacritic mark (cedilha) is used under the C
- Ç.

Portuguese language dictionaries
do not list phonetic transcriptions for the pronunciation
of words, stress or syllabic division (Travlang, 2000). There
is no need for it, given the predictability of the letter/sound
correspondence and syllabic structure.
